Illinois, Illinois
By the rivers gently flowing
In August 2004, I took a trip down to Southern Illinois to not only check out the highways and byways, but to also learn something about my home state. Most of the route followed either the Mississippi River or the Ohio River. I actually did learn some things and also got to see some great natural sights that most people probably don't realize are in Illinois. There's much more to the Prairie State than, well, prairie. These pictures were all taken by me and many are not road sign pictures. But they are pretty cool nonetheless. The picture above is from IL 100 South, as it hugs the shores of the Mississippi River with limestone bluffs looming overhead.
